Amsterdam has three main airports currently in operation serving commercial flights: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM), and Eindhoven Airport (EIN).
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS)
Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam's primary airport, is a major international hub. Opened in 1916, it is one of the busiest airports in Europe, offering an extensive range of airlines and flights to destinations worldwide. Passengers arriving at Schiphol can reach the city center conveniently via train, taxi, or car. The train journey is typically quick and efficient, offering direct connections. Taxis provide a more private option, while car rentals offer greater flexibility for exploration beyond the city.
Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM)
Rotterdam The Hague Airport is considerably smaller than Schiphol. It caters primarily to domestic and a few European flights. The airport offers a range of ground transportation options to reach Rotterdam and The Hague city centers. Train and bus services connect the airport to both cities. Taxis provide a quicker, albeit more costly, transport alternative, and car rentals allow for independent travel.
Eindhoven Airport (EIN)
Eindhoven Airport is another smaller option serving mainly budget airlines and connecting to several European destinations. Transportation links are readily available, including regular bus and train connections to Eindhoven and the surrounding area. Rental cars are also a popular choice for convenient transport to other cities in the Netherlands or neighbouring countries.
